Last August 20, the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) IST Team had a productive visit to the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Bulacan and Virginia Ramirez Cruz National High School. The day started at SDO Bulacan, where the team was warmly welcomed by the staff. Rafael Gonzales, one of the IT students, presented the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) that their team developed. The presentation was followed by a short meeting where they discussed the specific needs of the SDO, focusing on how the HRIS could be tailored to meet those needs effectively.
After the SDO visit, the team headed to Virginia Ramirez Cruz National High School, one of UA&P’s first extension partners. Ma'am Odette Valondo, principal of VRCNHS together with the teachers welcomed the team with open arms, making the visit feel more like a reunion. The team checked on the computers that IST Department had donated way back in 2019 to ensure they were still in good condition and serving the students well. A significant part of the visit was the official turnover of the HRIS project, which the IT students had developed as part of their capstone projects. This handover marked a milestone in the partnership, reflecting the ongoing support UA&P provides to the school.
The visit also included a casual “kamustahan” session, where the team caught up with the teachers, reinforcing the strong relationship between the university and the school. The day was a great blend of formal project updates and friendly interactions, highlighting UA&P IST department’s commitment to its partners and the shared goal of enhancing education through technology.
